Η Τζακλίν Ουίλσον γεννήθηκε στο Μπαθ (Σόμερσετ) το 1945. Εργάστηκε σε εκδοτικό οίκο και στη συνέχεια δούλεψε για δύο χρόνια ως δημοσιογράφος, προτού ασχοληθεί επαγγελματικά και με τεράστια επιτυχία με τη συγγραφή βιβλίων. Έχει γράψει πολλά βιβλία για παιδιά, μια σειρά αστυνομικών μυθιστορημάτων και αρκετά θεατρικά έργα που έχουν παιχτεί και στο ραδιόφωνο. Εδώ και πολλά χρόνια, συστηματικά επισκέπτεται σχολεία και βιβλιοθήκες. Τα παιδιά την αγαπούν πολύ, ίσως γιατί ξέρει να συζητάει μαζί τους χωρίς να τα κατευθύνει. Λαμβάνει από τους αναγνώστες της πάνω από διακόσια γράμματα την εβδομάδα, στα οποία μάλιστα απαντάει η ίδια. Τα βιβλία της έχουν πουλήσει περισσότερα από 20 εκατομμύρια αντίτυπα στην Αγγλία, έχουν τιμηθεί με τα πιο σημαντικά βραβεία παιδικής λογοτεχνίας και έχουν μεταφραστεί σε 30 γλώσσες. Η Τζάκλιν Ουίλσον λατρεύει το διάβασμα και η προσωπική της βιβλιοθήκη περιλαμβάνει περισσότερα από 15.000 βιβλία! Το βιβλίο της "Η εικονογραφημένη μαμά έχει τιμηθεί με το Βραβείο Παιδικού Βιβλίου της Χρονιάς 1999 και το Βραβείο Παιδικής Λογοτεχνίας Guardian 2000, ενώ ήταν υποψήφιο για το Carnegie και το Blue Peter.
