Ο Rene Goscinny γεννήθηκε στις 14 Αυγούστου του 1926 στο Παρίσι. Είναι ένας από τους πιο πολυδιαβασμένους Γάλλους συγγραφείς στον κόσμο. Μόνον από τις περιπέτειες του "Αστερίξ", που έχουν μεταφραστεί σε 107 γλώσσες και διαλέκτους, έχουν πωληθεί γύρω στα 300 εκατομμύρια άλμπουμ. Ο Rene Goscinny ήταν ένας άνθρωπος που προκαλούσε πάντα γέλιο. Με τα κείμενά του, με τα λόγια του. Πάντα κομψός, με μια ακατανίκητη δημιουργικότητα, ως χαρακτήρας ήταν ευγενής και, ταυτόχρονα, πολύ εσωστρεφής. Έκανε πολλές τρέλες στη ζωή του κι ύστερα, γύρω στα 40, έγινε ένας ολοκληρωμένος δημιουργός και, τελικά, ένας άνθρωπος που γνώρισε την ευτυχία (μαζί με τη γυναίκα και την κόρη του). Εξασκώντας μια τέχνη σπάνια, χωρίς κακία, χωρίς χυδαιότητα, γεμάτη ελαφρότητα και ακρίβεια, o Rene Goscinny υπήρξε ένας παραγωγικότατος σεναριογράφος κόμικς ("Αστερίξ" με τον Albert Uderzo, "Ιζνογκούντ" με τον Jean Tabary, "Λούκυ Λουκ" με τον Morris), αλλά κι ένας συγγραφέας με μαγική πέννα ("Ο Μικρός Νικόλας", με εικονογράφηση του Sempe). Το 1959 υπήρξε επίσης συνιδρυτής (μαζί με τους J.M. Charlier και A. Uderzo) του περιοδικού "Pilote", από το οποίο γεννήθηκαν τα κόμικς που διαβάζουμε σήμερα. Από τη Bretecher στον Bilal, περνώντας από τους Gotlib, Cabu, Tardi, Mezieres, Druillet, Fred, Lob, Giraud, Christin, Pιtillon, Reiser...
