Ο Βρετανός συγγραφέας Anthony Craig Horowitz γεννήθηκε τον Απρίλιο του 1956 στο Middlesex και σήμερα ζει στο βόρειο Λονδίνο με τη γυναίκα του, Jill Green, τους δύο γιους του και το σκύλο του. Ξεκίνησε να γράψει στα οκτώ του χρόνια και από τότε δεν έχει σταματήσει. Έχει γράψει πολλά βιβλία για παιδιά, καθώς και σενάρια για δημοφιλείς και βραβευμένες τηλεοπτικές σειρές και τον κινηματογράφο, αλλά και θεατρικά έργα. Ο Horowitz γνώρισε τη διεθνή καταξίωση ως συγγραφέας μιας σειράς παιδικών βιβλίων με κεντρικό ήρωα τον έφηβο κατάσκοπο Alex Rider, οι περιπέτειες του οποίου μεταφέρθηκαν και στον κινηματογράφο. Είναι επίσης ο δημιουργός της ιδιαίτερα επιτυχημένης αστυνομικής τηλεοπτικής σειράς "Foyle's War", που διαδραματίζεται κατά τη διάρκεια του Β΄ Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου. Στις αρχές του 2011, ο Horowitz επιλέχτηκε από το Arthur Conan Doyle Estate ως ο συγγραφές ενός νέου μυθιστορήματος με πρωταγωνιστή τον Σέρλοκ Χολμς.
