Είναι κάτοχος μεταπτυχιακού στην Αγγλική Λογοτεχνία από το Trinity College του Πανεπιστημίου του Κέιμπριτζ, καθώς και μεταπτυχιακού στη Σεναριογραφία από το Αμερικανικό Ινστιτούτο Κινηματογράφου στο Λος Άντζελες. Η Σιωπηλή ασθενής, το πρώτο του μυθιστόρημα, βρέθηκε στο #1 στη λίστα με τα best sellers των New York Times και έχει πουλήσει περισσότερα από 7,5 εκατομμύρια αντίτυπα παγκοσμίως.
