Dumas, Alexandre, 1802-1870

Συγγραφέας

Ο Αλέξανδρος Δουμάς (πατήρ), Γάλλος μυθιστοριογράφος και δραματικός συγγραφέας, γεννήθηκε το 1802 και πέθανε το 1870. Είχε δυνατή φαντασία και μεγάλη ενεργητικότητα. Γραφέας σε συμβολαιογραφείο στην αρχή, μελέτησε με πάθος την ιστορία της πατρίδας του και άρχισε να γράφει, σε συνεργασία με άλλους δύο, κωμειδύλλια. Ακολούθως, έγραψε πολλά ρομαντικά δράματα και κωμωδίες και εν συνεχεία επιδόθηκε στο ιστορικό μυθιστόρημα, στο οποίο σημείωσε μεγάλη επιτυχία. "Οι τρεις σωματοφύλακες" και "Ο Κόμης Μοντεχρήστος" τον έκαναν γνωστό σε ολόκληρο τον κόσμο. Ήταν προικισμένος με το χάρισμα να διηγείται και να συναρπάζει με τον τρόπο που έγραφε. Ο Αλέξανδρος Δουμάς μετέφερε με επιτυχία το ρομαντισμό στο θέατρο και έδωσε στο μυθιστόρημα μια λαϊκή μορφή τέχνης. Η γονιμότητά του υπήρξε καταπληκτική. Έγραψε 257 τόμους μυθιστορήματα και 25 τόμους με θεατρικά έργα, είτε μόνος του είτε σε συνεργασία με άλλους "στρατηγούς", καθώς έλεγε, των οποίων αυτός ήταν ο "Ναπολέων". Ο Βίκτωρ Ουγκώ έλεγε για τον Δουμά: "Δεν είναι απλώς Ευρωπαίος, είναι παγκόσμιος". Ο Αλέξανδρος Δουμάς άφησε την τελευταία του πνοή το 1870. Το 2002 ο τάφος του μεταφέρθηκε στο Πάνθεον του Παρισιού, το μαυσωλείο όπου είναι θαμμένες λαμπρές προσωπικότητες της Γαλλίας.
