Τα βιβλία της έχουν μεταφραστεί σε περισσότερες από 40 γλώσσες και συγκαταλέγεται στις σημαντικότερες πεζογράφους και κριτικούς του Καναδά. Σήμερα ζει στο Τορόντο με το σύντροφό της, το συγγραφέα Γκρέιμι Γκίμπσον.
